Quiringh Gerritsz van Brekelenkam: The Tailor’s Workshop (1661)

(Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam, The Netherlands)

A simple genre scene this time. The paintings shows a tailor at work in his home, his equipment is around him - a scissor lies on the table, together with needles and pieces of thread. He has two apprentices which implies that he is master craftsman for his guild. They are sitting near the front window to take advantage of the light. This painting is from 1661.
