Gherardo Starnina: Two seated angels making music (1400-1410)

(Museum Boijmans van Beuningen, Rotterdam, The Netherlands)

A nice small painting this time. This piece used to be a part of a larger polyptych altar-piece which was cut into smaller pieces (a common practice). These two angels used to be seated at the Virgin’s feet. The left angel is playing an organ, the right one is playing a harp. Painting from around 1400-1410.
