Jan Adam Kruseman (1804-1862) was a Dutch painter from the 19th century. His most famous works are his portraits of the upper class. this beautiful portrait is a good example of his work. The sitter is Alida Christina Assink (1810-1886) at the age of 23. She was the wife of Hendrik Provó Kluit, a Dutch politician, jurist and police commissioner. This portrait was made several years before they got married and shows Alida in the latest fashion. Painting from 1833.
