Jan van Huysum: Still life with flowers (1723)

Jan van Huysum was Dutch painter from the 18th century who painted exclusivly fruit and flowers. This painting shows a wide array of flowers. In the vase are roses, poppies, peonies, daffodils, irises, cornflowers, fritillaries, scabiosa, gentiana, bluebells, imperial fritillary, London Pride and tulips. The statue on the background is a statue of Flora, the Roman goddess of flowers and spring. Painting from 1723.
