Peder Severin Krøyer: Hip, Hip, Hurrah! (1888)

A nice painting from the Norwegian-Danish painter Peder Severin Krøyer (1851-1909). Depicted on the painting is a group of Danish, Norwegian and Swedish artist who were attracted to Skagen (a small fishing village in the north of Denmark) by the scenery and light and formed a community there - the group as a whole was called the "Skagensmalerne" (The Skagen Painters). Depicted on the painting are: Martha Møller Johansen and her husband, the painter Viggo Johansen, Norwegian painter Christian Krohg, Krøyer, Degn Brøndum (Anna Ancher's brother), Danish painter Michael Ancher, Swedish painter Oscar Björck, Danish painter Thorvald Niss, teacher Helene Christensen, Danish painter Anna Ancher and her daughter Helga Ancher.
