Heinrich Aldegrever: Dancing Couple (1538)

This engraving was made by the German artist Heinrich Aldegrever (1502–1555/58 or 1561). Aldegrever was one of the "Little Masters", a group of German artist who were specialized in producing small prints. These print ranged from the size of a postcard to a postage stamp and were designed for art collectors. This wonderfull engraving comes from the 'Large Wedding Dancers' set and shows a German couple, dressed in the fashion of that period. The size of this print is only 11.8 × 7.9 cm (or 4 5/8 × 3 1/8 inch) and comes from 1538.
