(Yale Center for British Art, New Haven, Connecticut, USA)

A painting by the Flemish artist Hans Eworth/ Ewouts (1520–1574). Hans Eworth originally came from Flanders but he emigrated to England around 1544-1545. In England he made allegorical paintings and portraits of the aristocracy. This portrait is such an example. The identity of woman is unknown but previously she was identified as Mary Fitzalan, Duchess of Norfolk (1539/40–1557). The text on the right gives her the age of 16. Painting from around 1565.
