Bastiano Mainardi: Madonna and Child with saints (1507)

An altarpiece made by the Italian artist Bastiano Mainardi (1460 – 1513). Depicted from left to right:

- Saint Justus of Volterra: the fourth Benedictine archbishop of Canterbury, patron saint of the Italian town of Volterra
- The virgin Mary with the child Christ
- Saint Margaret of Antioch: a 15 year old girl who was martyred for her faint. she is the patron saint of childbirth, pregnant women, dying people, kidney disease, peasants, exiles, falsely accused people and nurses

The Latin text beneath Mary reads: "Ave Gratia Plena" - "Hail, full of grace" with the creation date of the painting (1507) underneath it.
