Georges-Pierre Seurat: Bathers at Asnières (1884)

(National Gallery, London, UK)

A painting by the French artist Georges-Pierre Seurat (1859-1891). Seurat is best known for his work 'A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte' which shows a group of people relaxing on the banks of the river seine. This painting shows also relaxing on the banks of the river seine, almost opposite of his famous painting. The group is situated near the Asnières railway bridge, and the industrial buildings of Clichy both of which are shown in the background and opposite of the Island of La Grande Jatte (the trees on the right side). Painting from 1884.
