Georges de La Tour: The Musicians' Brawl (1625-1630)

(J. Paul Getty Museum, Los Angeles, USA)

A painting by the French artist Georges de La Tour (1593-1652). Two musicians are fighting with each other - the one on the right has a hurdy-gurdy slung around his shoulders and a knife, the one on the right has a shawm (a precursor to the oboe) and squeezes a lemon into the eyes of the man on the left. Two other musicians on the right are laughing about the fight while an old woman on the left grasps the top of her broom - her expressions looks like if begging them to stop their fight. Painting from 1625-1630
